3-Weekend Course Format is as follows:
3 Friday Evenings from 7pm – 10pm
3 Saturdays from 8:30 am – 6pm
3 Sundays from 8:30am – 6pm
1 Four-hour Final Exam
following Weekend 3:
Monday from 12pm-4pm OR
Tuesday from 12pm-4pm
Upgrade to Master 25/50/100 Ton
3-Day Course Format is
as follows:
Friday from 10am – 7pm
Saturday from 9am – 6pm
Sunday from 9am – 6 pm
Exam is at the end of class on Sunday.

Master’s Inland
Successful Completion of AME Course and Exam.
Sea Service Requirements – Master 25/50/100-Ton
360 days of service on any waters. This can be the same sea time form your OUPV for an INLAND Master’s License.
Recency – 90 days in the past 3 years on vessels
Tonnage Calculations
100 GRT – 90 days (25%) of service on vessels of 51 GRT or above, OR 180 days (50%) of service on vessels of 34 GRT or above.
50 GRT – 90 days (25%) of service of vessels of 26 GRT or above, OR 180 days (50%) of service on vessels 17 GRT or above. *** If applicant has any service prior to March 24, 2014 and at least one day of service on a vessel greater than 5 GRT, the MMC may be issued for 50 GRT without meeting the above tonnage calculation. This option expires for all applications dated after March 24, 2019.
25 GRT – 271 days (75%) or more for endorsement on vessels 5 GRT or less 90 days (25%) of service on vessels of 1-25 GRT OR 180 days (50%) of service on vessels 1-16 GRT. (If mariner does not meet the tonnage calculation for 50 GRT or more he or she is eligible for 25 GRT)
Great Lakes – 360 total days of service in the deck department, OF WHICH: 90 days of service on Great Lakes, otherwise the endorsement will be limited to inland waters of the United States (excluding the Great Lakes)
Master’s Near Coastal (200 mile offshore)
720 DAYS, 50% of which (360 days) must be seaward (ocean) of COLREGS demarcation lines.
You may need to verify vessel type, tonnage, and/or manning via MISLE or Vessel Documentation. (Spreadsheet Optional)
Experience gained in the engine department on vessels of appropriate tonnage may be creditable for up to 90 days of the service requirements.
